I saw the pattern for this purse on Pinterest and thought it was a great way to use up fabric scraps. The occasion of a granddaughter’s birthday gave me the perfect excuse to give it a try.

Here’s the tutorial, which, surprisingly, I think I followed pretty exactly! Maybe my straps weren’t quite as long because my scrap pieces weren’t large enough, but that’s about the only change I made.
This granddaughter liked her fish purse so much, that I made another one for her cousin. Hooray for piles of scraps in the sewing closet!
And I filled it with one of her cousin’s favorite books. I figured if one of them liked it, the other would as well. After all, they’re both in the same family! You’ll have to let me know if your three-year-olds like “look and find” books.

I know they probably love money! The little zippered wallet was a hit as well. In a year or two, maybe I’ll make some more for the cousins that are still babies now. What do you think?
